Happy 4th of July!

Everything that is really great and inspiring is created by the individual who can labor in freedom” – Albert Einstein

I am so proud to be an American, and ever grateful for those who have sacrificed so much that I may have the rights and privileges that I do!!

Someone told me recently I should update my blog a little more often.  Mmm, a novel idea, yes?  I have been into so many things lately....  Some new, some not so new.  I'll write about a few, and provide links to some of my new favorite blogs.  Hope you enjoy!

I'm at the my inlaws for the holiday weekend.  There'll be a golf cart parade (complete with prizes), I'll get to do some piecing, and my daughter does some fishing with her father.  It's always such a relaxing time out here.

I've spent some time lately checking out the blogs of my some folks I admire.  Here's one by Sherrill.  This is one busy lady - she gets more done in a day than I get done in a week!  She's going to have to explain what a 'cacher' is though.  It's the second time I've heard the term and still don't know what it means!  http://quiltinginmysleep.blogspot.com/

Next, take a quick look at JoAnne's blog.  JoAnne gets a ton of stuff done too.  And talk about quilt recycling - she's now officially the selvedge queen in my book! http://nappinnanaquilts.blogspot.com/

I attended a scrapbooking party a couple of weeks ago.  You know they type - kind of like a Tupperware party.  A representative from a company (Creative Memories in this case) shows you all the wonderful products they have to help you make beautiful pages out of your photos and memories.  I'd never been that interested in scrapbooking, but thought I'd check it out.  I was so glad I did! I have to give both the hostess and the company representative huge credit - they did not in any way push anyone to buy huge amounts of products that I wouldn't have time to use.  The entire presentation was geared to "get your photos and memories in albums, and journal the story".  Made alot of sense to me.

One of the biggest things I learned is that all of this can be done digitally, and that I am already using one of the industries chosen software packages for organizing and keywording all of my digital photos.  Now I'm really interested because we all know how much of a geek I'm turning into when it comes to things I can do on the computer.  So I've been checking out some of the digital scrapbooking sites, and came across this digital scrapbook.  It's pretty cool, and I thought I'd share: http://blog.freedigitalscrapbooking.com/?page_id=181

Anyway, long story short is that there's a ton of free stuff out there, and so many ideas that I can't help but think that somehow, I can do this for my family.  In fact, I've already started and am having a blast with it!

Hoping everyone is having a wonderful, relaxing 4th of July weekend!  Hugs!
